Why you should get back into netball

You may have played netball as a child, or even as a young adult, or you may even have given it a go as you’ve grown older. If, for whatever reason, you’ve stopped, these reasons should give you incentive to start playing again, and to keep on playing!

Anyone can play

Netball really is for everyone. If you’re not fit, that’s fine. Your fitness levels will improve the more you play, and at first, you can play in a position that requires a bit less running around. If you’re not experienced, you’ll also catch on fast, as the rules are easy to understand. As it is a team sport, you have others to guide you, so there’s less pressure too.

Value for money

You don’t need to splash out on a gym contract or pay hefty monthly fees, and you can play netball pretty much for free, or you can play with friends or a club for a nominal fee. You also don’t need fancy equipment, just a good pair of trainers to run around in and some comfortable exercise gear.

Great variation

Every game of netball is different and even netball training drill videos, like those available at https://www.sportplan.net/drills/Netball/drills.jsp, are filled with variety. This means you won’t easily get bored and there’s an incentive to keep on playing.

Awesome exercise

Netball is great exercise, and it’s a fun way to get fit too. You won’t even realise how hard you’re working, as you’ll be too busy enjoying yourself on the court. This is one of the reasons why netball is becoming increasingly popular, and so many people are discovering what a great workout it offers.

Socialising

Netball is a great way to meet people and if you’re playing with people you don’t know well, you’ll often find that you quickly become friends. Working together as a team also helps build relationships, and you may soon find that you have a whole new set of buddies.

Life skills

Netball teaches you how to work as a team and to communicate with other players you may not know well. This can be a very valuable life skill, as it will help you in the working world and with personal relationships too. It also teaches you to be a good sport, to encourage others and to engage in healthy competition.
